Fragrant molecules confuse mosquitoes

A team of U.S. scientists at the University of California identified the aromatic molecules that confuse mosquitoes, “thirsty for blood”, which could represent a significant step forward in the fight against malaria.

Aromatic molecules emit certain chemicals, which would be in poor tropical countries could prove lifesaving because it is much cheaper than the means for rejecting the mosquitoes that cause the body and various traps for this insect on the basis of dry ice and various gases.

Identified aromatic molecules cause a disturbance in mosquito cells, which are receptors of carbon dioxide from human breath. These cells are the tiny antennae near the mouth of the mosquito and it invariably leads to “victim”.

Mosquitoes are attracted heat of the human body and the fragrant elements of a sweat, besides of exhaled carbon dioxide.

A new study shows that when schools reduce the physical education, they are missing an important opportunity to promote learning.

The researchers evaluated the program of daily exercise that is part of regular school activities. They conducted a program in poor academic school in Charleston. The first six classes participated in the program 40 minutes a day, five days a week. Before the survey, students were given 40-minutes of physical education per week.

The first and second grade beat the developmental skills of movement while the basic academic skills greatly improved. For example, they pratitili forms on the ground while sitting on the scooter or sat on the ladder, I hit the color of the analyzed objects. Students in third through sixth grades had access to equipment to practice with TV monitors. One treadmill had a monitor that is played in geography lessons, while students run.

The study results showed that the test results to improve after a year. Specifically, the results of students who scored at the state test has increased from 55 percent before the program started to 68.5 percent after the running program.

Researchers say that the study confirms earlier evidence that exercise is good not only for the body, but also for the mind.
